Reading
Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary: “This child is destined for the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed – and a sword will pierce your own soul also” (Lk 2:34-35).
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another” (Rom 12:15-16).

Reflection
Let’s close our eyes for a moment. We can hear the sound of the trumpet, the rush of people, and the clang of the horsemen on the street to Calvary. On the pathway our mother is debating. She has a longing desire to hold her beloved Son once more, but she is uncertain that she has the strength for that. But she begged John to take her to some place through which he must pass. Finally they were at that place. The Mother of God was pale, her eyes were red with weeping, and she was closely wrapped in a cloak of a bluish-grey color. The clamor and insulting speeches of the enraged multitude might be plainly heard; and a herald at that moment proclaimed in a loud voice, that three criminals were about to be crucified is passing this point.
Mother may have thought what my son has done to these people? Why God let this happen? Can I show him my face?, millions of thoughts. One thought above all “If I do not remain to see him pass, I will grieve afterwards my whole life”.
Decision Taken. She stood. Jesus Passed. Their eyes met. They remained with their eyes fixed for moments. They spoke through their eyes.
Mother Mary might have said “My Son, God prepared me for this, since the day you conceived. He chose me long ago. I was in His heart. But you trained me when you became flesh. I saw God from your actions and words. Remember what happened when you were 12? It was a training too. Remember when you said “My Mother and brothers are the ones who are doing my fathers will”.
It was training to me. I will support you. Thank you for changing me.
As a reply Jesus said “Thank You Mother. Take Courage. It is not finished yet”.
He started again.
