Though princes meet and talk against me ..
Though princes meet and talk against me ..
Acts 8:6-15; Psalm 119:23-24, 26-27, 29-30; John 6:22-29

Stephen was chosen from among the people with six other reputable people to make sure all the believers are treated alike while distributing food. May be he knew that Jesus had called him for a greater purpose. While attending to the work entrusted to him, he continued to preach in Synagogues about Jesus. He talked to them boldly. While many joined the believers, he became a threat to some, including the leaders.
Stephen did not stop his work for the Lord. He did not ask protection from the Lord when they conspired against him with false witnesses. He prayed to show the way so that he may not go astray in the midst of persecutions. The Psalm we sing today could have been his prayer. It should be our prayer too when we face enemies while following the way of Lord’s footsteps.
“Though princes meet and talk against me, your servant meditates on your statutes. Yes, your decrees are my delight; they are my counselors.” When we stay faithful to the Lord, the Lord will send his angels to help us as He did with Stephen. Believing in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour itself is participating in the work of the Lord
