The Wealth Last Long
The Wealth Last Long
2 Corinthians 11:18, 21-30; Psalm 34:2-7; Matthew 6:19-23

According to Paul we hear today, he has every qualification that his rivals are boasting about and more than that. Instead, he chose to boast about the rejections, sufferings, beatings and imprisonments he had to face for the gospel, in the name of Jesus Christ. He must have known that the qualifications that the world is looking for, like education, wealth, relationships, are not what the Lord is looking for.
In the Gospel reading, Jesus tells us the same thing in a different manner. Whatever things we collect in this world to compete with, others could be lost in an instant. But, what we gather for the Lord would last long and could not be taken away by anyone.
If we can see this truth clearly, we can start to collect the wealth which could be used in heaven.
Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, whom we commemorate today, spent his life helping others rather than trying to earn money or fame out of his education.
