How can I understand?
How can I understand?

The angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, "Get up and head south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza, the desert route." Wow, how nice it would be if God sends direct messages for us like that too. We do not have to keep on guessing or doubting. We can just do what God asks us to do. That was what I thought of when I read the above passage. How about you?
What if Philip thought the voice he heard was just only his imagination in his mind and ignored it? What if he thought that there is no way of hearing God’s voice or God calling normal people like that and shook it off? Philip could have missed the opportunity of evangelizing the Ethiopians. He could have interrupted God’s plan of sending His message to Ethiopia through that officer.
When we get some idea or we feel we hear some voice that is supposed to be from God, it is always good to go back to Him and ask Him for the authenticity of the message. God always talks to us. Since we have ignored His voice for a long time, we might not be in a position to recognize it at once. But, if we practice listening to Him, mostly through the Holy Scripture, it won’t be that difficult to get used to His voice. Because the Holy Spirit is always with us to help and instruct.
How can I understand without the Holy Spirit instructing me? How can others understand unless I instruct them under the guidance of the Holy Spirit?
