Reflection for Friday of the Fifth week of Lent
Returning to the Starting Point
Jeremiah 20:10-13; Psalm 18:2-7; John 10:31-41

Jeremiah was in trouble. Everybody was against him. They want to denounce him. Even his friends have joined the crowd. They were waiting until he fails. Instead of giving up, instead of complaining, instead of pleading, Jeremiah remembers who God is. He remembers what God had done in the past and also in his own life. He knew the ones who are going to be put to shame was not him, but his enemies. He started praising the Lord in the midst of the disaster.
The Psalm helps us remember what God did and does for us when we are in trouble. God is our strength, fortress and deliverer. He is our refuge, our shield. He destroys the disasters which are around me and he always listens us. That was the courage Jesus had in facing Jews with stones in their hands to kill him. He said “The Father is in me and I am in the Father.” Then he went back to Jordan where he first heard the voice of the Father: “You are my beloved Son.”
When we face difficulties because of the faith, it is always a good practice we should follow to go to the place we started the journey as Jesus did. It will help us remember why I became a Christian, why I took over the work I am doing and what gave me the courage to accept the call.
